Microsoft Removes Twitter as an Option From Its Digital Marketing Social Media Management Tool

Tech giant Microsoft has removed Twitter as an option from its digital marketing center social media management tool.

The company via its support page revealed that starting on April 25, 2023, it will no longer support Twitter, which implies that companies will no longer be able to use Microsoft’s platform to manage their tweets or engagement on the microblogging site. Furthermore, companies will not be able to create or draft tweets and view past tweets and engagements.

The company wrote,

“Starting on April 25, 2023, Smart Campaigns with Multi-platform will no longer support Twitter.

As of April 25, 2023, you’ll be unable to:

  • Access your Twitter account through our social management tool.
  • Create and manage drafts or Tweets.
  • View past tweets and engagement.
  • Schedule Tweets.

“Other social media channels such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram will continue to be available”.

Lack of access to Twitter through the Microsoft Digital Marketing Center social media management tool implies that companies will have to seek alternative platforms to manage and track their Twitter campaigns.

Investors King understands that Microsoft’s decision to remove Twitter as an option from its digital marketing social media management tool is coming a month after Twitter banned third-party clients from accessing its platform, as a part of a larger shakeup of its developer features. Twitter is charging companies $42,000 a month to start an enterprise with its new API.

The new details also mean that a lot of services using Twitter’s older APIs could soon stop working altogether. Twitter has recommended that companies migrate to new tiers as soon as possible for a smooth transition.

It is however interesting to note that following Microsoft’s decision, Twitter CEO Elon Musk has threatened to sue the tech giant over the use of Twitter data for its A.I. Musk wrote via a Tweet, “They trained illegally using Twitter data. Lawsuit time”.
