Telegram Rolls Out Power Saving Mode Feature, Enables Users to Preserve Their Phone Battery

Cloud-based instant messaging app Telegram has rolled out a new power-saving mode feature that enables users to preserve their phone battery.

The newly launched power saving mode is found in the settings which enable users to limit features such as Autoplay Videos, GIFs, Play Stickers, play emoji, and Interface effects, once their phone battery drops to a certain percentage. Users can also choose to leave the feature permanently on, to minimize how fast their phone battery drains.

Apart from the new battery-saving mode, Telegram has also rolled out an enhanced playback speed control for videos in chat. Users can choose default speeds like 0.5x,1x,1.5x, and 2x, or use the slider to choose a custom speed.

Telegram is also giving users better control over who is allowed to add them to groups. The platform has launched an auto-invite group links feature. When a user is selected to join a group, once this feature is disabled, they will be sent an invite link that they can choose to accept or ignore.

In addition, Telegram has also added some other features such as Dynamic order for stickers, Translated Bot descriptions, Improved folder support on iOS, new animated emoji, new interactive emoji, reactions, and a lot of new bug fixes.

Launched in 2013 by two brothers Nikolai and Pavel Durov, Telegram Messenger is a globally accessible freemium, cross-platform, encrypted, cloud-based, and centralized instant messaging (IM) service. In January 2021, the app surpassed 500 million monthly active users.

On 21 March 2022, Telegram’s usage share jumped to 63%, overtaking WhatsApp’s usage share of 32% to become Russia’s most popular messaging tool. On 19 June, Telegram announced that it had reached 700 million monthly active users.

It is interesting to note that Telegram has overtaken WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger to become the most popular instant messaging application in countries such as Armenia, Ethiopia, Belarus, Cambodia, Jordan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Ukraine.

Investors King understands that following its high usage and huge popularity, Telegram has attracted the attention of a large percentage of professional marketers. The increased interest in Telegram by marketers is not a surprise given the fact that using its powerful features efficiently can increase the visibility and outreach of a business, boost sales and get the target audience to explore companies’ products and services, without any costs.
