The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL has revealed that 339 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)  known as Petrol was supplied to 63 local fuel depots across the country in one week.

Investors King reports that the petrol supply estimated was between February 25 and March 3, 2023.

The distribution details were contained in the report of the National Petroleum Company and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA released on Monday.

According to the issued Weekly National PMS Evacuation and Dispatch report, Lagos depots got the largest share of the distribution with 1.73 billion litres.

Other states with larger percentages during this period are: Delta State with 610 million litres of petrol; Oyo got 531 million litres of PMS and Ogun had 441 million litres of petrol.

The report by NNPCL and NMDPRA  stated that 79 per cent of all evacuation took place at the first 25 biggest loading depots in Nigeria with a minimum evacuation of five million litres and average distribution of about 48 million litres per day with a daily average of 63 million.

Investors King recalls that in 2022, the Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, Mele Kyari disclosed that Nigeria used sixty-six million litres of PMS daily.

With these distributions, fuel scarcity still persists in some states across the federation. In Abuja, Lagos, Osun and some other states last week, long queues were observed in some areas of the states.

However, fuel depots were closed for some days before and during the February 25 presidential and national assembly elections which contributed to the fuel scarcity since distribution was paused.
