The Federal Government has shortlisted nine firms to commence full auditing on the landed properties and other assets of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) nationwide.

The selected companies are; Oghogho Ayanru, Raji Adewale Associates, Alaba Odunlanmi, Law Field Barristers and solicitors, B.A. Wali & Associates, Aliyu Abubakar & Co, Bola Fabola, Tayo Osuntogun & Co and Primal Chambers.

Investors King reports that the Nigerian Postal Service as a government agency was set up by the federal government to deliver services on collection, dispatch, and distribution of domestic and foreign mails at a affordable rate. It is in charge of postal services in Nigeria with numerous post offices across the country taking and receiving deliveries with the use of postage stamps.

The Bureau of Public Enterprises, in a statement issued on Thursday, in Abuja disclosed that the federal government has declared an urgent verification of NIPOST properties.

According to the BPE, the nine companies were grouped into the six geo-political zones of the country to carry out the task.

The selected companies are expected to submit proposals to begin the auditing process, verifying the titles of the properties and checking if the assets were  duly registered by the appropriate bodies.

The firms will give details and updates based on their findings on the ownership status of the properties involved alongside further information for proper verifications of the properties.

The statement reads in part, “Nine firms have been approved by the National Council on Privatisation under the Chairmanship of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, to immediately carry out a nationwide verification of NIPOST Properties & Development Company Limited.

“This was one of the high points at the second meeting of the council for 2023 held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on February 21, 2023.

“The firms are to provide proposals for carrying out the assignment based on validating the titles of the properties, thereby determining if the properties were duly registered at the relevant land registries. Determine the ownership status of the properties as well as the type, size, and location of the properties; and provide any additional information that will enhance the audit of the properties.”
