Twitter Blue Users Can Now Post Tweets up to 4,000 Characters Long

Microblogging platform Twitter has enhanced its Twitter blue feature which now permits users to post tweets up to 4,000 characters long, up from 280 characters.

Also, the same upgrade applies to quote tweets and replies as the character length has been increased.

Twitter revealed that the recent update was necessitated after it suggested that most users needed more than 280 characters to express themselves.

The company wrote, “Need more than 280 characters to express yourself? We know that lots of you do, and while we love a good thread, sometimes you just want to Tweet everything all at once. We get that, so we are introducing longer Tweets.

“Most standard functions of Tweeting still apply, whether you want to post a picture, use a hashtag, or create a poll. But now, you can type all the way up to 4,000 characters. For now, longer tweets on the web can’t be saved as drafts or scheduled to send later”.

Twitter further revealed that the rollout of the feature, could mean a lot of scrolling for users, so they will be capped at 280 characters on the timeline, and users will see a “show more” prompt to click and read the whole tweet.

While only Blue subscribers can post longer Tweets, anyone and everyone can read them. Users can read them, users can retweet, reply to, and quote a longer tweet, no matter if they are Twitter subscribers or not.

Having introduced the Twitter Blue paid verification last year, Investors King understands that the platform with its recent update seeks to give users a more good reason to subscribe to the service.

Reports reveal that the company’s CEO Elon Musk still needs to sell 10.4 million subscriptions to be able to finance his debt since acquiring the platform.

Twitter Blue has attracted 290,000 subscribers since its launch, a meager portion of the monthly use. During the first month of its launch, roughly 180,000 users purchased the service.
