Amazon Alexa Set to Ease Electric Vehicles Drivers Charging Problems

Amazon Alexa is set to ease owners of electric vehicles (EV) charging problems as it partners with EVGo.
Following its recent partnership with EVGo one of the largest charging networks in the U.S, Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa will help EV drivers easily locate charging stations, Investors King understands.
Aside from helping drivers locate a charging station, it will help drivers in the U.S. to navigate to their chosen station by leveraging on EVGo’s data.
For instance, when a driver asks Alexa to find a station, they’ll be presented with a list of nearby locations with availability by plug type, as well as the time and distance to arrival. Once the driver chooses a location, Alexa will provide navigational instructions for ease.
Also, Amazon’s Alexa can be able to initiate and pay for the charge through a linked account, which drivers use by simply saying “Alexa pay for my charge”.
The vice president of Amazin smart vehicles Anes Hodžić disclosed that the EV charging experience is a lot more fragmented than for gas customers who can pretty much stop at any location.
She said, “We want Alexa to be useful for customers in their everyday lives, and EV charging is a great example of a task that can be simplified and made more convenient through the power of AI”.
Speaking on its collaboration with Amazon, EVGo’s CEO Cathy Zoi, said, “At EVGo, we’re committed to making EV driving infrastructure convenient, reliable, and affordable for all types of drivers.
“Mass adoption of EVs is underway, and this collaboration between EVgo and Amazon will make charging seamless for even more EV drivers.”
Currently, EVGo has more than 850 fast charging stations across the United States but plans to construct more.
With more than a decade of experience owning and operating one of the largest public fast charging networks in the U.S, EVGo is a “first mover” and “first learner” in infrastructure program design. It works with government agencies, automakers, fleets, site hosts, utilities, and other stakeholders to accelerate transportation electrification.
