Nigeria’s Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele is missing from the list of top 15 central bankers in Africa in 2022.
The report which was published by Global Finance ranked the Governor of the South African Reserve Bank in the first position in Africa with the prestigious ‘A’ grade.
Investors King learnt that only three central bank governors in Africa made the Global List of the top 20 Central Bank Governors. These include the Governor of the South African Reserve Bank, the Governor of the Bank of Mauritius, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Morocco.
In the 2022 report, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was missing from the top 15 list, he was awarded a ‘C’ grade.
The grades are parameters based on a scale of “A” to “F” for success in various areas such as inflation control, economic growth goals, currency stability, and interest rate management.
On the world stage, Asgeir Jonsson, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iceland is the most exceptional with a grade (A+).
Other Central Bank Governors with A grades include Brazil, China, India, Israel, Paraguay, Peru, South Africa, Sweden, Taiwan, and Vietnam.
Similarly, the 2022 Bankers Report Card also featured the Central Bank Governors of Bulgaria, Colombia, Egypt, Georgia, Mauritius, Morocco, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Uruguay, and Philippines with the grade (A-).
