Following the acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk, a group of advertisers has planned to boycott the platform if Musk reactivates Donald Trump’s account.

The former president of the United States was suspended from Twitter after he was accused of instigating violence in the world’s largest economy.

After losing his re-election, Donald Trump wrote on his Twitter page, ” Big protest in DC on January 6.

January 6 coincides with the day that the US congress will officially certify Joe Biden’s victory in the electoral college. “Be there, will be wild”, he added.

Subsequently, on January 8, Twitter permanently suspended Donald Trump’s account citing the “risk of further incitement of violence”.

During a committee hearing, a man who pleaded guilty testify that the former president’s tweet encouraged him to attend the rally. He quoted Donald Trump’s tweet “Stop the steal” as what motivated him to be at the rally.

According to the Wall Street Journal, a group of advertisers is showing concern about the planned reinstatement of Donald Trump.

It will be recalled that Elon Musk has hinted at reinstating the former President as part of his measure to bring more activity to the social media platform.

The World Richest Man who is also the CEO of Tesla had labeled Trump’s ban a “morally bad decision” and ‘foolish in the extreme”.

The global head of partnership at GroupM, an international advertising agency, Kieley Taylor noted that some major brands have asked that their advertisement on Twitter be paused if Donald Trump was received back on the Twitter platform.

Speaking further, Taylor stated that more notable brands could join the boycott if the ban was eventually lifted.

Meanwhile, Investors King earlier reported that Elon Musk had sacked Twitter’s CEO, CFO, and a host of other top executives to reflect a change of leadership.

The retrenchment of the top executives came immediately after he completed the acquisition of the microblogging social media platform.

Several sources had reported that an executive director who spearheaded the suspension of Donald Trump was one of those affected.
