Towards the end of August 2022, authorities of the United Arab Emirates also slammed visa ban on Nigeria while some Nigerians were stranded at the Dubai airport.

The United Arab Emirates is spectacular for its tourist attraction. However, a number of Nigerians who travelled there had engaged in violent activities.

In 2021, the United Arab Emirates suspended Direct Employment Visa for Nigerians, as a result of the increasing rate of crimes involving Nigerians in the Middle-East country.

The UAE police conducted several raids and arrested some Nigerians who were later sent to jail.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian government has advised all prospective visa applicants to indicate clearly their visa preferences without any ambiguity and also respect the immigration laws of other countries so as to avoid unwarranted treatments.

The statement which was issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was in relation to some Nigerians who were refused to leave the Dubai Airport because of inconsistency in personal information.

Some of the affected Nigerians had posted a video on Twitter lamenting the bad treatment melted at them at the Dubai Airport.

However, the Nigerian Mission in Dubai clarified that most of the Nigerians involved were issued family visas, only to arrive in Dubai alone without any family members.

The Nigerian mission clarified that persons who applied for the same visa and arrived with their families were allowed into the country. While those who claimed their family members were on another flight, were told to wait at the airport, pending their arrival.
