NDLEA Sized N1 Billion Worth of Tramadol at Lagos Airport

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully intercepted 2,465,000 tablets of tramadol at the Lagos International Airport. 

Investors King learnt that the anti-drug law enforcement agency (NDLEA) intercepted 2,465,00 tablets of tramadol with a street value of N1 billion at the Murtala International Airport in Lagos.

It will be recalled that a week ago, NDLEA reported a successful operation that led to the discovery of 13.5 million pills of tramadol stashed in an expensive building in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

The spokesperson of NDLEA, Mr Femi Babafemi disclosed that the agency acted on credible information which led to the success of the latest operation. 

Babafemi further stated that the contraband, a consignment of 52 cartons came into Nigeria from Karachi, Pakistan, with six different airway bills via an Ethiopian Airlines flight

“Following credible intelligence, the agency had shown interest in the consignment of 52 cartons that came into Nigeria from Karachi, Pakistan, with six different airway bills via an Ethiopian Airline flight, comprising 7 cartons of 250mg of a brand called tamral and 45 cartons of 225mg, branded as tracking”. He said. 

The NDLEA spokesperson also declared that the consignment has been moved to the agency facility while the investigation continues. 

In another development, Babafemi stated that 10 months after the arrest of a notorious drug dealer in Alaba Rago area of Ojo in Lagos State, Alhaji Surajo Mohammed, the agency has been able to convict and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment by a Federal High Court in Lagos presided over by Justice Yellin.

Meanwhile, the Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Retd) has commended all the officers of the anti-drug law enforcement agency for the successful operations that have been recorded in recent times. 

He thereafter urged them to continue to remain steadfast, resolute and unrelenting until the last gram of illicit drugs is taken away from the streets of Nigeria.
