Tech giant Google has announced the migration of assistant and calendar reminders to Google tasks.
What the newly updated feature seeks to do, is to integrate the reminder and calendar into the Google tasks app so that users can access everything in a single app.
This new feature will enable users to easily manage their tasks and reminders from any of these three apps by unifying its to-do systems.
Once this upgrade is live, users will be able to opt in to the new experience before it takes place for all users by migrating existing reminders into Google Tasks.
When users get to use Assistant or Calendar to create or view reminders, they will see a notification on their phone or computer that will prompt them to be one of the first to try the new Tasks experience.
All they have to do is to open the notification to move their reminders into Google Tasks so that they can manage all their to-dos in one place.
When Google Tasks was launched in 2018 as a standalone app, Calendar had two separate options to create tasks and reminders, which was quite tasking.
Google is trying to simplify this with an update that once it is launched, users can set a reminder with Google Assistant, which will show up in both Tasks and Calendar lists. They will also get a notification for the task completion reminder at the set time.
The company said in a blog post, “Soon, we’ll be simplifying our task management solutions by migrating Assistant and Calendar Reminders to Google Tasks.
“This means you will now have an easy way to view and manage all your to-dos in one place through Google Tasks, regardless of whether you create them using Assistant or Calendar.”
