Technology giant Google revealed that it mistakenly sent N169.249 million or $249,999 to a blogger cum security engineer.

The blogger and security engineer, Sam Curry, who didn’t hesitate to reach out to the tech company about the error, was told it was a “human error” on Google’s part.

Sam Curry claimed via tweet that he had tried to reach Google in the past three weeks without a success.

He said, “It’s OK if you don’t want it back,” Curry said in the tweet, adding that it had been over three weeks since he received the money and was given a support ticket when he contacted Google.

The blogger however revealed that he did not spend the money, rather he kept it for when the company would inevitably ask for it.

Curry, who works as an engineer at Yuga Labs, recently disclosed that he sometimes does bug bounty hunting for tech companies and had received payments from Google for such services in the past.

However, he believes that the quarter of a million dollars transferred to his account has got nothing to do with bug bounty hunting and may just be a mistake on Google’s part.

Following his revelations, the tech company had since released a statement saying that the transfer was made in error. A spokesperson for Google disclosed that its team had made a payment to the wrong party.

Google has since reached out to Curry and thanked him for his honesty. The tech giant added that it has commenced an internal investigation into what triggered the error and assured it would be addressed in no time.
