NGX Index Sheds 0.64% on Wednesday to Extend Decline

The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) extended its decline on Wednesday as uncertainty ahead of the general election and rising inflation rate weigh on the bourse.

As expected activity level dropped at the Exchange during the trading hours of Wednesday. Investors traded 188,092,480 shares worth N2.363 billion in 4,890 transactions, against 299,994,739 shares estimated at N3.099 billion that exchanged hands in  5,394 deals.

Market value of all listed equities depreciated by N182 billion from N28.634 trillion it closed on Tuesday to N28.452 trillion on Wednesday.

NGX All-Share Index dipped by 0.64% to 52,775.4 index points, down from 53,113.64 index points it closed on Tuesday.

Tripple Gee and Company Plc led top gainers with 9.20% or N0.08 to settle at N0.95 a share. Learn Africa followed with 5.40%, or 0.13% to close the day at N2.50. Unity Bank came third with a 2.13% gain to N0.48 per share.

On the other hand, Meyer led losers with a 10% or N0.31 depreciation to N2.79. Linkage Assurance Plc and Union Bank of Nigeria followed with 8.93% and 7.69% declines, respectively. See other details below.
