Beta Glass, PZ, Others Lead Gainers as NGX Extends Decline

The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) closed in the red on Monday to extend its last week’s decline from N25.311 trillion market value on Friday to N25.273 trillion.

Investors exchanged 359,890,155 shares worth N2.611 billion in 5,163 deals during the trading hours of Monday. The NGX All-Share Index depreciated by 0.15% to 46,893.86 index points, while the market value of all listed equities dipped by N38 billion.

Analysing key sectors, the banking index lost 442 basis points on the back of a broad decline in the values of Unity Bank, Union Bank of Nigeria, Zenith Bank and Fidelity Bank. Jaiz Bank, Ecobank and UBA posted gains.

The oil and gas index also declined in value, shed 12bps on a 3.35% decline in Ardova.

However, it wasn’t all read as the consumer goods index and industrial index gained 18bps and 6bps, respectively.

The Exchange Year-to-date return drops to 9.78% as 18 stocks post gains and the remaining 18 stocks closed in the red. See the details of top gainers and losers below.
