Equities Market Gained 0.05% as 18 Stocks Gained

The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) gained for the first time this week on Wednesday as 18 equities posted gains against 17 that closed in the red.

Activity level was mixed as investors exchanged 145,832,085 shares valued at N2.535 billion in 4,113 transactions during the trading hours of Wednesday, against 183,255,994 shares worth N2.475 billion that exchanged hands in 3,779 deals Tuesday.

Market value of listed equities grew by N13 billion from N25.514 trillion recorded on Tuesday to N25.527 trillion Wednesday. The NGX All-Share index gained 0.05% to 47,364.46 index points.

Breaking down each sector performance, the banking sector shed 59bps on decline in Sterling Bank, Zenith Bank and Access Bank. Unity Bank, Ecobank and UBA Bank gained  +4.17%, ETI +1.27%, and UBA +0.59%, respectively.

The consumer goods sector gained 19bps on PZ (+9.79%), Fflour Mill (+0.79%), Unilever (+0.74%) and Honey Flour (+0.27%). While both the oil and gas and industrial index closed flat.
