Visa Donates $2 Million to UNICEF as Relief Fund For Ukrainians

American multinational financial services company, Visa Inc has disclosed its plan to extend a grant of $2 million to the United States Fund for United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF.

The digital payment platform noted that the fund was to offer humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine as regards the current crisis encountered.

This was revealed in a statement released on its official website on Tuesday.

Visa Inc commended the humanitarian relief efforts of UNICEF as it said the organisation is proud to support its good works.

Investors King reports that UNICEF as a United Nations agency is responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children and operates in 192 countries across the globe.

The financial services corporation added that part of its support to Ukraine includes double matching all employee donations up to $1 million to the Ukraine response funds of UNICEF and the Red Cross.

Visa Inc which connects businesses, banks and governments in more than 200 countries averred that it will ensure compliance with applicable sanctions, and additional sanctions that may be enacted.

It expressed sympathy for the affected Ukrainians and employees who are directly impacted while reiterating its commitment to ensuring their security and safety.

“During the past few days, all of us at Visa have watched the tragic scenes in Ukraine with deep sadness and disbelief. Our hearts go out to the many people and families seeking safety, shelter and peace following the invasion of Ukraine.   

“Our number one priority is ensuring the safety and security of our colleagues who are directly impacted. We also want to support, together with our employees and Visa Foundation, humanitarian efforts to help meet basic needs.

“Our thoughts are with the Ukrainian people and all those impacted. We hope for a peaceful resolution soon,” the statement read.
