European Union Unveils 7-year Capital Development Plan For Nigeria, Prioritises Agriculture, Good Governance, Education

In a bid to improve the standard of living in Nigeria, the European Union, EU has introduced a seven-year capital development plan.

The EU development plan unveiled in Nigeria has in focus agriculture, good governance, education and migration.

The seven-year development plan is also aimed at improving the nation’s revenue with green economy in its agenda.

The EU Programme Manager, Temitayo Omole gave the hint on Wednesday at the EU Borno packaging coordination meeting in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Omole noted that the priority areas which involve agriculture, good governance and migration will cut across the six geological zones in Nigeria.

Speaking on the ongoing preparations for its implementation, he said that partnering firms have drawn out plans for the projects which will be monitored by the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (MRRR).

He said, “there will be capital development in the education sector.

“Three development partners submitted their sustainability plans and handed over projects to the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (MRRR) for tracking, monitoring and maintenance of completed infrastructural facilities,” 

The Representative of the Commissioner of MRRR, Bitrus Mshelia, at the event called on other partnering organisations to submit their reports promptly.

Mshelia further urged the partners to review their sustainability reports before submitting them to the government.
