Stock Investors Gained N23 Billion on Monday

Investors in the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) gained N23 billion on Monday to extend year-to-date return to 2.76 percent as 28 stocks closed in the green, against 19 that closed in the red.

Investors exchanged a total of 311,255,714 shares worth N8.642 billion in 5,159 transactions during the trading hours of Monday. The market value of all listed equities appreciated by N23.01 billion from N23.628 trillion it closed on Friday to N23.651 trillion.

While NGX All-Share Index grew by 0.10 percent to 43,897.13 index points, up from 43,854.42 index points it settled on Friday.

Sectorial analysis showed the NGX Banking Index depreciated on UBN (-6.90%), UNITYBNK (-2.00%), WEMABANK (-1.18%) and ZENITHBANK (-0.20%). Gainers were UBA (+3.13%), STERLINGBANK (+1.95%), FIDELITYBK (+1.59%) and ETI (+0.58%).

The NGX Consumer Goods Index shed 5bps on NNFM (-9.66%) and FLOURMILL (-3.10%). Gainers included PZ (+8.53%), VITAFOAM (+3.70%) and HONYFLOUR (+1.45%).

The NGX Oil and Gas Index closed down 58bps on OANDO (-2.95%) and ARDOVA (-2.89%). ETERNA (+3.72%) was a gainer in that sector today.

The NGX Industrial index gained 171bps on DANGCEM (+4.00%) and WAPCO (+0.97%). BUACEMENT (-0.72%) was a loser in that space today.

BUA Foods, the newly listed company, extended gain to N58.50 a unit share, up from N40 per share it was listed on Wednesday. See the details below.
