Stock Investors Gained N276 Billion on Monday

Nigerian stock investors recorded a N276 billion profit on Monday despite Omicron uncertainty and weeks of weak market sentiment. A total of 23 stocks posted gain against 16 stocks lost points.

Investors exchanged a total of 229,640,539 shares valued at N3.289 billion in 4,426 transactions during the trading hours of Monday.  Unity Bank Plc led the most traded stocks with 48,316,045 shares worth N20,448,624. Followed by Universal Insurance Plc with 21,100,000 shares worth N4,220,000. See other details below.

Sectorial analysis showed the banking industry dipped by 47bps on the decline in ZENITH BANK (-1.76%), UBA (-0.62%), ACCESS (-0.55%) and FIDELITY Bank (-0.39%). STERLING (+3.40%) and ETI (+2.76%) gained points.

The consumer goods industry shed 5bps on NASCON (-6.79%) and CHAMPION (-4.06%). HONYFLOUR (+2.78%) was a gainer in that space today.

Similarly, the -4.26 percent decline in OANDO dragged on the Oil and Gas industry as it recorded 86bps. However, the industrial index gained 66bps on Dangote Cement.

Market value of all listed equities appreciated by N276 billion to N22.130 trillion on Monday, up from N21.854 trillion it closed on Friday.

The Nigerian Exchange Limited All-Share Index gained 1.26 percent from  41,882.97 index points on Friday to 42,411.12 index points on Monday. The year-to-date return of the Nigerian Exchange Limited improved to 5.32 percent from 4 percent. See other details below.
