FBN Holdings Drags Nigerian Exchange Limited to Positive Year to Date Return

FBN Holdings Plc sustained its positive momentum on Wednesday to drag the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) to a positive year to date return for the first time in eight months.

The Exchange gained N25 billion on Wednesday following N248 billion gain recorded on Tuesday when FBNH led top gainers and trades.

Investors traded 400,651,808 shares worth N3.479 billion in 5,145 transactions during the trading hours of Wednesday, in contrast to 432,992,034 shares valued at N3.125 billion that exchanged hands in 4,377 deals on Tuesday.

NGX All-Share Index appreciated by 0.12 percent to 40,765.2 index points on Wednesday while market capitalisation of all listed stocks gained N25 billion from N21.217 trillion recorded on Tuesday to N21.242 trillion on Wednesday.

FBN Holdings Plc led gainers again on Wednesday with N0.70 or 7.78 percent to settle at N9.70 per share. This was followed by University Press Plc’s N0.09 or 7.38 percent to close the day at N1.31 a unit.

FBNH also led the most traded stocks for third consecutive days on Wednesday with 108741273.00 shares worth N1,072,504,475.95. See the details below.

The Exchange recorded a positive year to date return for the first time in eight months on Wednesday. It closed with Year-to-date return of 1.23 percent.
