Flutterwave has announced the appointment of Jimmy Ku, silicon valley and venture capital veteran as the Head of US Growth. His appointment cements Flutterwave’s ambition for the US market amid plans to offer payment services to US-based customers, local businesses, and companies.

Flutterwave recently partnered with US tech giants such as Paypal, Forter and WorldPay FIS to accelerate digital financial payments solutions across the world. Early this year, Flutterwave also completed a Series C fundraise, bringing a number of blue-chip US-based investors onto the share register, signaling further intent of the US growth of the business.

Jimmy Ku, formerly Chief Operations Officer at mobile media platform MixerBox.Inc., has over 17 years of experience in consulting, start-ups, investments, and founding or co-founding five start-ups during this time. Jimmy has also served as a Venture Scout for 10X Capital and Grishin Robotics and helped raise over $340 million in venture capital funding over the last three years.

Olugbenga ‘GB’ Agboola, Founder and CEO of Flutterwave, said: “We are delighted to welcome Jimmy to our team at Flutterwave. Jimmy’s experience in the technology, start-up and innovation space greatly enhances our team’s credentials for expansion into the US market. His role will also be valuable in the development of new products and services under our platform with the aim of meeting the needs of our US customer and investor base.”

Jimmy Ku, Head of US Growth Flutterwave, said: “I’m very glad to have joined Flutterwave to drive business growth in the US. I look forward to growing with the Flutterwave team whilst building a stronger payments infrastructure for US companies with African technology.”

The US market promises to be a huge opportunity for both Flutterwave and local businesses that want to simplify payments while providing goods and services to their customers.
