#FreeEromz: Nigerian Youth Demands Police Force Obey Court Order and Free Eromosele

History seems to be repeating itself as the Nigerian Police Force refused to release Eromosele Adene, one of the leaders of the #EndSaRS protest, after perfecting his bail conditions.

This unlawful act had played out during the era of Omoleye Sowore when he was unlawfully detained despite being granted bail by the Nigerian High Court.

Eromosele Adene Peter was arrested at his family home in Ikeja on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Mr Adene was posting live updates on Twitter when the security forces picked him up after laying siege for his sister who was later compelled to take them home.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria are about to ‘arrest’ me for exercising my human rights. Their guns are out and they have broken my gates and are in my house!!!”, Eromolese said in one of his last
tweets.

It was believed that the arrest was in connection to a rumoured fresh protest being planned by the Nigerian Youth in Lagos.

Though Eromosele was arrested in Lagos, he was later transferred unlawfully to Abuja. It was gathered that his arrest was effected without a court order, hence it’s illegal.

This was after the Nigeria police force denied arresting Eromosele at his house but rather claimed the arrest took place at the protest ground, but evidence showed that Eromosele was arrested at his house in Ikeja before he was forcefully moved to Abuja.

Eromosele was arraigned on Monday on four count charges bothering on cyber-stalking and conduct likely to provoke the breach of peace.

However, he was granted bail on Wednesday in the sum of N1 million after ruling against an application filed by the Nigerian Police Force seeking to remand Adene for an extra 30 days.
