Olamilekan Agbeleshe, popularly known as Laycon, is one of the participants of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 5 reality TV show, tagged Lockdown.

Born on November 8, 1993 in Lagos to a police father, Laycon has managed to up his fan base from slightly above 3,000 to over 1 million while still in the house, making him the first housemate to do so.

Laycon graduated from the University of Lagos with a Bachelor degree in Philosophy. He graduated with a second-class upper and interned with Latjum Global Nigeria Limited, an oil and gas marketing company in Lagos, as a personal assistant to the Chief Executive Director and Managing Director of the company.

After his internship, Laycon worked at Bestman Games, a leading games company based in Ikoyi, Lagos, for just two months before joining Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy as a personal Assistant Director (Welfare) of Administration and Human Resources of the ministry. On the side, he was working as a freelance writer for numerous firms and organisations.

There are several mysteries surrounding his family and upbringing given his limited exposure up until now, however, there were unconfirmed reports that his father died of cancer after years of struggle and hiding his health challenges from his family to protect them from the usual emotional trauma.

In a long goodbye message to his dad before BBNaija, Laycon said his dad should look after his mother, who is obviously struggling with his absence among others.

He said “but look after mum please, help me to take care of her, please. I really need you to come through for me. If you need to go meet God or Allah or Whoever is up there to beg, go do it pleas.”

In a shocking revelation this week, Laycon revealed that he is a sickle cell carrier with SC genotype but liked to keep it away from the public as he does not want to be pitied.

The revelation brought a new dimension to the already growing fan base as fans and other stakeholders were shocked given his tenacity and efforts at breaking out despite his obvious limitations.

Also, his fans believed Laycon might have told Erica, a disqualified housemate, about his health status at some point when they were still friends, hence why she said he will die before he turned 50 years old. “This one that will die before 50 years,” she said.
