Stamp Duty Crisis to be Resolved, Says Pantami

Isa Ibrahim Pantami, the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy has said that he had written President Muhammadu Buhari about the issue going on between the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Nigerian Postal service (NIPOST) over the stamp duty collection and affirmed it would be resolved soon.

Pantami said this on Thursday in Abuja while addressing journalists in a press conference to mark his one year in office.

Recently, there had been controversies between these two agencies- NIPOST and FIRS over the collection of Stamp Duties.

Pantami said he had engaged some top government officials and also wrote the president on how the issue will be resolved.

He said, “I have engaged the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning twice on the matter.

“I have also written to our boss, President Muhammadu Buhari. I am also engaging the Central Bank of Nigeria’s governor.

“I can assure you that the issue will be resolved officially soon.”
