  • Goodbye Rainmaker, Majek Fashek Passes at 57

Majekodunmi Fasheke popularly known as Majek Fashek or the rainmaker has bid the world farewell.

Omenka Uzoma, the manager of the late musician, confirmed his death on Instagram.

He said, “Today been having pressure calls, well it is true that the African No 1 Legendary ICON has gone to be with the LORD his Maker.”

“Let celebrate him, his achievements, and his family, whatever decisions made by his immediate family will be notified.”

Majek Fashek was born in Benin City to an Edo mother and an Ijesha father but identifies with his Benin roots more.

Fashek remains in Benin following his parents’ separation and eventually joined the choir in his local Aladura church and learned to play the trumpet and guitar whilst composing songs for the choir.

The musician went international in 1986 with his popular hit song, send down the rain.
