George Floyd: Floyd Mayweather to Finance Funeral and Memorial Services

  • George Floyd: Floyd Mayweather to Finance Funeral and Memorial Services

Floyd Mayweather, one of the world’s greatest boxers to ever grace the boxing ring, has offered to pay for George Floyd’s funeral and memorial services.

According to the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, Leonard Ellerbe, George Floyd’s family has accepted the offer.

The unbeaten retired champion knows for his flamboyant lifestyle love to keep a low profile regarding his charity works.

“He’ll probably get mad at me for saying that, but yes, he is definitely paying for the funeral,” Ellerbe told ESPN.com on Monday.

George Floyd, an African American, was kneel-struggling by a white American police officer on May 25 in Minneapolis.

Despite been on handcuff and saying he couldn’t breathe, the four police officers were unperturbed with one pressing his knee into Floyd’s neck for more than 8 minutes.

His death has led to nationwide protests with protesters setting police stations and stores on fire in Minneapolis.

Floyd would be laid to rest on June 9 in his home town in Houston, Texas.
