  • COVID-19: NCDC Announces 220 New Cases; Total Now 2388

The total number of COVID-19 infected people in Nigeria jumped by 220 on Saturday to 2388, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The centre said while the number of discharged rose to 385, the total number of deaths increased by 17 or 25 percent from 68 recorded on Friday to 85 on Saturday. Another indication of the deteriorating state of things despite the Federal Government’s decision to temporarily ease restrictions to allow partial movements and commerce in certain sectors in the three most affected states.

The pace of spread and death rate has risen in the last one week and the very reason why people should be cautious on Monday, May 4th announced as partial resumption date. 

A break down of the 220 cases shows Lagos remains the most exposed with 62 new cases Lagos. Followed by 52-FCT, 31-Kaduna, 13-Sokoto, 10-Kebbi, 9-Yobe, 6-Borno, 5-Edo, 5-Bauchi, 4-Gombe, 4-Enugu, 4-Oyo, 3-Zamfara, 2-Nasarawa, 2-Osun, 2-Ebonyi, 2-Kwara, 2-Kano, and 2-Plateau.
