The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday announced another 204 new cases of coronavirus in Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy.

The centre had reported 108 new cases last week Thursday. Followed by 114 on Friday, 87 on Saturday, 91 on Sunday, 64 on Monday, 195 on Tuesday, and 196 on Wednesday. Indicating that the number of infected people rose by 1,059 or 50 percent in one week despite measures to curb the deadly virus in Africa’s most populous nation.

NDCD, on its official Twitter page, said: “As of 11:50 pm 30th April- 1932 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria”

On Thursday, NCDC confirmed 80 new cases in Kano; 45 in Lagos; 12 in Gombe; 9 in Bauchi; 9 in Sokoto; 7 in Borno; 7 in Edo; 6 in Rivers; 6 in Ogun; 4 in FCT; 4 in Akwa Ibom; 4 in Bayelsa; 3 in Kaduna; 2 in Oyo; 2 in Delta; 2 in Nasarawa; 1 in Ondo and 1 in Kebbi.

While the total number of death rose by 7 from 51 reported on Wednesday to 58 on Thursday. However, the number of patients discharged so far grew from 307 on Wednesday to 319 on Thursday.
