- Lagos to Pay Families Affected by Abule Ado Explosion N2.5m Each
Lagos State government announced it will commence the payment of N2.5 million to each of the families who lost loved ones in the Abule Ado pipeline explosion.
According to reports, more than 23 people died during the incident which occurred on March 15, 2020 in the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of the state.
More than 300 properties were said to be destroyed with hundreds of residents displaced in the aftermath of the explosion.
In a statement released by the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) on Wednesday, the emergency management authority said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had approved the payment of the money in line with his commitment to assist victims and families affected by the explosion.
“This approval has been conveyed to victims/families affected by the incident by the Director-General of LASEMA, Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu in a statement which expatiated the modalities for collection and how much each victim/family is entitled to collect.
“Each named next of kin of a deceased victim of the Abule Soba pipeline explosion will be given N2,500,000 by the Lagos State government,” the statement said.
The Director-General, therefore, called on the affected members to attend a meeting for verification and collection of the said amount.
