- COVID-19: Nigeria Records Second Death
The Federal Government on Monday confirmed Nigeria’s second death due to coronavirus.
The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, disclosed this on Monday during the Presidential Task Force Briefing on COVID-19 in Abuja.
Ehanire, who did not give details of the person, said the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria has risen to 111, adding that major of them were returnees.
He, however, added that the highest number of confirmed cases are in Lagos, the commercial capital of the country, and Abuja as the two states serve as the nation’s major gateways.
He added that retired but able-bodied staff of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and the Federal Ministry of Health were being recalled.
Nigeria recorded the first death case two weeks ago after Suleiman Achimugu, a 67-year old former managing director of Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, a subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, died shortly after returning from the United Kingdom.
