  • Nigeria Confirms Third Coronavirus Case in Lagos

The Ministry of Health on Tuesday confirmed the third case of coronavirus in Africa’s largest economy, Nigeria.

Nigeria confirmed its very first case of the virus in February after an Italian businessman traveled from Milan, Italy via Turkish Air to Lagos, Nigeria.

While Nigeria has managed to prevent escalation of the virus and nursed the two patients, index case and his contact, to good health, a statement from Lagos State’s commissioner of health, Akin Abayomi said the third case of coronavirus has been confirmed in Lagos.

The new case was a 30-year old Nigerian female who had traveled from the United Kingdom on 13th March. The patient had self-isolated herself sensing something could be wrong before eventually testing positive.

The patient is now at Mainland General Hospital in Lagos, Nigeria.
