Aliko Dangote, the world’s richest black man, has pledged to donate N200 million through the Aliko Dangote Foundation to the Federal Government to fight coronavirus in Nigeria.

Maryam Shehu Buhari, who represented Ms. Zouera Youssoufou, the managing director and Chief Executive Officer, Aliko Dangote Foundation, at a donation meeting in Abuja on Tuesday said the donation was part of the foundation’s objectives to partner governments, at all levels both in Nigeria and the rest of the continent, against the fast-spreading disease.

While the Foundation was the only Nigerian donor that attended the meeting facilitated by the World Bank, Shehu Buhari announced that the Foundation has earmarked N124 million to help assess, prevent and respond to health events at Point of Entry to ensure National Health Security.

She explained that a facility worth N36 million would be provided by the Foundation to support the government’s efforts at curbing the virus.

According to her, another N48 million would also be provided for case management training of health workers.
