  • NNPC Seeks Russian Involvement On Gas Infrastructure Development

In a bid to improve gas infrastructure in the country, reduce air pollution and monetise gas flaring, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) through its Group Managing Director, Mele Kyari, disclosed that the corporation is in talks with Russian investors on how gas infrastructures can be developed in the country.

Speaking at the Russia, Africa Economic Forum in Sochi,  he said the investors are also being engaged in the rehabilitation of the Nation’s four refineries that have been producing below the capacity of what the country consumes.

A statement shared through the commissions’ verified Twitter handle, reads: “The team engaged Russian state company and private entities to secure development cooperation of mutual benefit.

“Refinery rehabilitation and gas infrastructure development on the front burner.”

The NNPC delegation that represented Nigeria in wooing investors at ongoing Russia, Africa Economic Forum, include; the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva; the NNPC’s Chief Financial Officer, Umar Ajiya; the NNPC’s Chief Operating Officer, Refineries, Mustapha Yakubu; among others.

The Federal Government has four refineries; two in Port Harcourt, while the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company and the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company have one each.
