  • Ethiopian Airlines Grow Revenue by 17% in H1, 2019

Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest carrier, said its revenue rose by 17 percent in the first half of 2019 despite March plane crash that killed 157 people.

“In one of the most challenging years, we managed to continue our fast, profitable and sustainable growth,” the airline told Reuters, sharing its preliminary results for the period.

According to the airline, passenger numbers rose by 14 percent to 12.1 million during the period, adding that the increase helps the airline manage about 25 percent increase in fuel cost.

Also, Ethiopian offered 13 percent more flight seats per kilometer during the period under review.

While the complete results is expected by the end of the month, the company says it has added inflight WiFi to improve passengers’ experience onboard.
