Vodacom Group Ltd, a South African based mobile operator, has announced plans to sell its Business Africa operations in Nigeria, Angola, Zambia and Ivory Coast.
The unit, Business Africa operations, that offers business-managed services to businesses in five African nations had agreed to sell Angolan operation to Internet Technologies Angola.
While Nigeria, Zambia and Ivory Coast operations will be sold to Synergy Communications and to Vodafone Ghana in Ghana.
In a statement released by the company, Vodacom Business Africa offers business-managed services to enterprises in 50 countries.
“In each of the five Vodacom Business Africa markets, the respective partners will acquire all of the operations and assets held by Vodacom,” the statement read.
Vodacom said it would only offer service as a network provider through the new owners in the affected markets.
“The transactions support Vodacom Group’s enterprise strategy in Africa, which has been refocused to grow and strengthen its core business,” the company said.
The Business Africa operations contributed 23 percent of the group service revenue in the year ended March 31, 2019.
