The Forbes has proclaimed Rihanna the world’s richest female musician in 2019 despite not releasing a single album in more than three years.

The 31-year old popular musician edged the likes of Madonna ($570 million), Céline Dion ($450 million) and Beyoncé ($400 million) with $600 million net worth. Thanks largely to her Fenty Beauty products.

Rihanna, real name Robyn Rihanna Fenty, launched her Fenty Beauty products in September 2017 and generated $100 million sales in its first few weeks.

In 2018, Fenty Beauty generated $570 million in revenue after just 15 months in business. The entire operation is worth about $3 billion with LVMH owning 50 percent, while Rihanna reportedly owns 15 percent, a figure a spokesperson for the musician disputed but refused to clarify.

Experts attributed her fortune to a number of good investment decisions.

“Globally the entire beauty industry is worth $480 billion (£377bn) – in 2018 the UK market was valued at $17 billion (£13bn),” stated Hannah Symons, the global beauty manager for Euromonitor International.

Hannah, whose job is to track the growth of the beauty industry, also said: “Rihanna’s success clearly doesn’t come off the back of the music although that’s how she initially gained fame.

“It’s all about her relevance and how she resonates with customers online. She’s very connected to her fans through social media and she’s always updating them on the newest products and things like launch dates,” Hannah adds.
