  • Kano Emirs: Four Newly Appointed Emirs Formally Accepts their Appointments

The four newly appointed emirs of Kano have formally accepted Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje appointment on Friday.

The new emirs, Aminu Ado Bayero of Bichi, Ibrahim Abdulkadir of Gaya, Tafida Abubakar of Rano, and Ibrahim Abubakar of Karaye, will be given the staff of office on Saturday during an event to be held at Sanni Abacha stadium.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, who has a pending order restraining him from creating four additional Emirates, on May 8 assented to the bill passed by the members of Kano State House of Assembly in a move largely regarded as a vendetta against Emir Muhammadu Sanusi.

A Kano High Court, in a judgment on Friday, had restrained the Governor from appointing new emirs, however, Governor Ganduje shunned the court order and appointed the four new emirs the same day.

Commissioner for information, Kano State, Muhammad Garba, said: “the four new emirs are Aminu Ado Bayero (Bichi), Ibrahim Abdulkadir (Gaya), Tafida Abubakar (Rano), and Ibrahim Abubakar (Karaye).”

Garba added that the “new emirs would receive their letters of appointment and staff of office at a ceremony to be held at famous Sani Abacha Stadium on Saturday, May 11.”

He stated that “Kabiru Alhassan, speaker of the Kano house of assembly, would be the kingmaker in Rano emirate, with Rurum, who holds the traditional title of Turakin Rano, also enlisted as one of four kingmakers in the emirate. Ado Bayero is one of the sons of the predecessor of Muhammadu Sanusi, the incumbent Emir of Kano.”
