Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria says it has relocated a total of 14 airlines from the old Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to the newly constructed CCECC terminal.

In view of this, FAAN in a statement on Tuesday said it might soon start the rehabilitation of the old Abuja airport terminal.

It said the airlines had been relocating since January 6 with the relocation of British Airways finalising the move of international flight operations to the new airport terminal.

The statement said, “FAAN today, April 30, 2019, announced that it has stopped international operations from the old terminal with British Airways ending the relocation from the old to the new terminal.

“Thirteen airlines including ASKY, Ethiopian Airlines, Turkish Airways, RwandAir, Emirates, Air France, Air Peace, Lufthansa, African World Airlines and Air Cote di’voire have been relocating since January 6, 2019, with British Airways sealing flights to the old terminal.

“Management is pleased to announce the arrival of British Airways to the new Abuja International airport terminal today, April 30, 2019.

“Management wishes to inform passengers, airport users and the general public, to note that, this historic movement marks the end of international flight operations at the old terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Meanwhile, with this relocation, FAAN stated that works on the old terminal would fully take effect to bring it to standard for domestic operations.

The Managing Director of FAAN, Saleh Dunoma, gave a hint of this development during the inauguration the Port Harcourt International Airport Terminal in October 26, 2018, where he said domestic operations would move there.
