- Electricity Returns to Ondo Community After Five Years
Electricity supply has been restored to Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Government Area in Ondo South Senatorial District after five years of blackout.
The BEDC Electricity Plc said in a statement on Thursday that the Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo inaugurated a power project facilitated by the company and the Niger Delta Power Holding Company.
According to the statement, BEDC and NDPHC jointly completed work on the rehabilitation of the project in the town.
It said with the inauguration of the project, 10 out of the 21 distribution substations in the Igbokoda community came on with power supply.
The BEDC said the substations in Larada, Ikuomola, Ilara , Orioketilu, Okoga College Road/Omotehin, GRA1, GRA4/NDDC, among others, were inaugurated.
It said, “The project, which is an ongoing exercise, is expected to extend to Okitipupa and other parts of Ondo South Senatorial District in due course.
“The restoration achieved by the BEDC with the speedy rehabilitation of the power project in conjunction with the NDPHC under the National Independent Power Project will bring positive effect on the social and economic activities in the area.”
