FG Pledges to Pay Road Contractors

  • FG Pledges to Pay Road Contractors

The Federal Government on Monday pledged to pay contractors handling road projects in the country to enable them to complete them.

Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, stated that the roads would have signage and essential furniture.

He said this during the inauguration of the Federal Road Safety Corps signage factory in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Mustapha urged state governments to use standard road signs and signals on their roads and to procure them from the FRSC signage plant.

The SGF said, “Government is committed to roads and road infrastructure beyond the signs and signage. It is ensuring that all road contractors are adequately mobilised to complete the various projects at hand so as to ensure that the highways are made safe for travels.”

He warned against vandalism, saying the government would not tolerate the destruction of road signs and other things installed on the highways.

FRSC Corps Marshal, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, stated that the factory could produce the road signs needed by the country, noting that the aim was to increase road safety in the country.

He added, “The plant has been able to produce about 6,000 road signs which are already installed on some segments of federal highways with testimonies to their quality and effectiveness by motorists.”

Oyeyemi praised the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola for collaborating with the FRSC to ensure safety on the highways.
