The Norwegian Ambassador to Nigeria, Jens-Petter Kjemprud, has said Nigeria imported $51.647 million worth of seafood from Norway.

Speaking at the Norwegian Seafood Festival in Lagos, the envoy said Nigeria import the most in Africa and stated that Norway is ready to partner Nigeria to further develop the entire seafood value chain as well as projects that will open up new markets and grow opportunities.

Kjemprud further stated that there is room to deepen trade between the two countries and increase the current volume of trade by tapping into numerous opportunities from both nations, saying there are huge benefits in doing so.

The trade volume between Nigeria and Norway currently stood at $30 billion, according to the Ambassador.

According to Kjemprud, Norway is looking to invest in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

As you have heard here today, we have focused a lot on the energy sector. There is technology here which is being utilised but there is a need to take it to the entire sector and for government to support it. We are one of the biggest players in global maritime activity and we have told our Nigerian partners that technology is the future and Nigeria has to be prepared for it.
