First Bank of Nigeria Limited has said more than 700 financial technology players, key stakeholders and tech lovers will converge this month to discuss the future of banking.

The lender said the three-day FirstBank 2018 Fintech Summit was in line with its corporate strategy to drive transformation through its products, processes and services.

It said the summit, themed ‘The future of banking – The role of AI and big data’, was convened to increase technological support and collaboration with the tech community while deepening the bank’s technological inclusion framework to improve its product offerings and services delivery experience.

According to the statement, the summit is scheduled to hold on October 17, after a two-day coding competition – Hackathon – slated for October 11 and 12.

It said, “The Hackathon is projected to focus on artificial intelligence and big data. Ten teams will be contesting for the grand prize of N3m in a competition to show off their technological and artificial intelligence capabilities with the second and third best teams carting away the sum of N1.5m and N750,000, respectively.

“The 10 teams will also have an opportunity to showcase their solutions at the Fintech summit.”
