The Federal Government and Huawei Technologies Nigeria are to send successful Nigerians to China for training in Information and Communication Technology.

Speaking at the send-off for the trainees that was held in Abuja, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah, said the Federal Government was fully in support of the programme being spearheaded by Huawei.

“We are fully in support of this programme, because human capital development is our number one priority as a government, and we are committed to building the relationship that we have with China and, of course, Huawei,” he stated.

Enelamah expressed appreciation on behalf of the government of Nigeria to Huawei Technologies in partnering the ministry in the area of human and institutional capacity development, and also in promoting technological innovation, knowledge transfer and ICT infrastructure development.

He said Nigeria and China had a mutually beneficial relationship that was being nurtured.

Advising the beneficiaries, the minister stated, “The future belongs to the younger generation and they should embrace this opportunity given to them to develop themselves in the ICT industry to enhance their contribution to the development of Nigeria.”

Enelamah urged the Nigerians who were being sent to China to seize the opportunity and make good use of it in order to help build Nigeria when they return from the training.

In his address, the Managing Director, Huawei Technologies Nigeria, Tank Liteng, said the send-off ceremony was in honour of 10 Nigerians who made it in the firm’s Seeds for the Future Programme.
