Following the resignation of Kemi Adeosun as Minister of Finance on Friday, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, to oversee the Ministry of Finance immediately.

President Muhammadu Buhari thanked the minister for her service to the nation, according to a statement released by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina.

The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari Friday accepted the resignation of the Hon. Minister of Finance, Mrs.nmed Kemi Adeosun. The President thanked the Minister for her services to the nation and wished her well in her future pursuits.”

“The President also approved that the Minister of State Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, should oversee the Ministry of Finance with effect from today.”

The acting minister holds a Bachelors degree in Accounting from the famous Ahmadu Bellow University Zaria and an MBA from the Ogun State University, Ago Iwoye.

She was the Chief Finance Officer of Nigeria Mobile Telecommunications, MTEL, before she was appointed by the current administration to manage state budget.
