United Bank for Africa Plc, FBN General Insurance and Sovereign Trust Insurance are the top sponsors of the inaugural Lagos State Petroleum Marketers Safety Conference slated for September 18 to 20, a statement from the group has said.

According to the group, the event is coordinated by an industry safety consultant J Bendeb Sylmar Associates in collaboration with the Lagos State Safety Commission.

The conference aimed to gather industry experts, regulators and top government functionaries to a roundtable discussion on how to enhance productivity in handling petroleum products, the statement added.

It read in part, “At its inaugural stage, the conference will set the tone for an enhanced policy articulation and deliberation on safety as it concerns the petroleum industry and its entire value chain.”

The Chief Executive Officer, J Bendeb Sylmar Associates, James Akin Ashokeji, was quoted as saying that the conference would create an avenue for cross fertilisation of ideas, set agenda and define the industry space for petroleum industry in the state.

It added, “Top speakers and international facilitators have indicated interest to participate while key industry and thought leaders in petroleum sector are billed to expand the discussions and chart a new narrative in the industry.

“The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Emmaneul Ibe Kachikwu is the guest of honour while the Chairman, House Committee on Petroleum Resources, Downstream, Hon. Akinlaja Joseph, is the guest speaker. The Governor, Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, is the chief host.”
