The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, and the President, African Development Bank, Dr Akinwunmi Adesina, among others, will gather to deliberate on how to achieve inclusive growth and redefine the African capital markets at the 22nd Annual African Securities Exchange Association Conference.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange said in a statement that the conference would discuss burning issues around Africa’s global competitiveness, emerging technologies and inclusive growth within the broader perspectives of sustainability.

It said over 44 keynote speakers and thought leaders had confirmed to speak at the conference, scheduled to hold on November 26 and 27, 2018 in Lagos.

The statement read in part, “Among the growing list of influential speakers are the Vice President and Treasurer, World Bank, Ms Arumah Oteh; Chairman, Davos International Advisory, Mr Oscar Silva; Chief Executive Officer, Afrexim Bank, Mr Benedict Oramah; Director General, Debt Management Office, Mrs Patience Oniha; Chief Executive Officer, World Federation of Exchanges, Ms Nandini Sukumar; President, Nigerian Stock Exchange, Mr Abimbola Ogunbanjo; Chairman, Coronation Capital and ex-officio, the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Mr Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede.”

The Exchange said the two-day conference, themed ‘Champions on the rise: Africa’s ascension to a more sustainable future’, would feature nine sessions on green growth, redefining business models, cloud banking, FinTech, galvanising domestic finance for the Sustainable Development Goals in Africa, innovative solutions for market-based SME financing, pathways to inclusive growth, African capital markets and the future of regulation in Africa.

The President, ASEA and Chief Executive Officer, NSE, Mr Oscar Onyema, while commenting on the development, said he was pleased that so many influential thought leaders from around the world had already committed to speak at the 2018 ASEA Conference.

He said, “Their experience will engender critical and insightful discussions at the conference aimed at accelerating sustainable growth in Africa, especially for African securities exchanges.

“Personally, I am looking forward to the conference, which will officially mark the end of my tenure as president of the African Securities Exchanges Association.”
