The Irolu Remo community in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun has started work on a N500m ultra-modern palace for the town.

The community led by its traditional ruler, the Onirolu of Irolu Remo, Oba Sikiru Adeyiga, and other prominent indigenes, performed the foundation laying of the palace on Friday.

Adeyiga, who described the project as an age-long dream, called on sons and daughters of the community at home and abroad to join forces with him to finish the project in record time.

In a statement, the monarch explained that the palace project was taking off with his initial donation of N5m and another N5m worth of building materials provided by Ladipupo Adebutu, who is representing Remo Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.

The monarch stated that some sons and daughters of the community had also started sending in their donations for the project, asking for the support and cooperation of all to give the town a befitting palace.

The Chairman, Irolu Development Council, Mr. Tope Osibodu, described turning of sod for the new palace as the beginning of greater things to come to the community.

Osibodu, who is also the site engineer for the project, urged the community to see the palace project as their own and should therefore donate generously for its completion within the shortest possible time.

The palace is expected to be completed in three phases, with top-notch facilities such as exquisite residential apartments, swimming pool, conference hall and recreation ground, among others.
