Eko Electricity Distribution Company said it had received some technical equipment from Power Africa, a United States government-led initiative coordinated by the United States Agency for International Development to double electricity access in sub-Saharan Africa.
The company said in a statement that the supply of the equipment, aimed at boosting the logistic and technical foundation of the company, was part of Power Africa’s technical assistance partnership with some electricity distribution companies in the country.
Speaking during the delivery ceremony, the Chairman, Board of EKEDC, Mr. Charles Itse Momoh, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the partnership between the two bodies.
He said the choice of Eko Disco as one of the four Discos for the Power Africa partnership would go a long way in building a new culture of excellence that had been the focus of the core investors of the company since 2013.
Momoh also indicated that the partnership had already added much value and produced real dividends.
According to the statement, two state-of-the-art Zera Test Systems are among the equipment provided, and are designed to help reduce aggregate technical, commercial and collection losses in the company.
“Apart from the test systems, other equipment expected to be supplied will include 200 DT statistic meters with all accessories (CTs, switchers and boxes) to boost metering efficiency and billing accuracy, as well as one bucket truck to boost operational efficiency in overhead line tracing and fault clearing,” the General Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr. Godwin Idemudia, said.
