Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has reiterated his commitment to the safety of residents, saying the security of live and property will not be compromised.

The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Tunji Bello, stated this on Monday at the opening of a newly constructed base for Police Mobile Force, Squadron 63, in the Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area of Ikorodu.

Ambode, who noted that the primary responsibility of the government was to ensure the safety and security of its citizens, said, “This administration, in partnership with the private sector, will continue to invest in the provision of equipment and other infrastructure for efficient operations of security agencies in the state.”

He said the project was meant to address the security challenges in the Ikorodu area.

He said, “With the provision of operational vehicles, communication equipment and others security gadgets for the squadron, criminal elements have no hiding place in Ikorodu and its environs.”

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, commended Ambode for his continuous support to the police.

Idris, who was represented by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Folusho Adebanjo, said Ikorodu had developed to a community of thriving commercial and social activities with attendant crimes.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edgal Imohimi, said the squadron would reduce violent crime in Ikorodu.

Adeboruwa of Igbogbo kingdom, Oba Abdulsemiu Kasali, stated that the base and the ongoing road construction in the area would fast-track development in the community.
