Aregbesola Warns Fuel Marketers Against Hoarding

  • Aregbesola Warns Fuel Marketers Against Hoarding

The Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, has warned fuel marketers in the state to desist from hoarding the commodity.

He lamented the hardship, which fuel hoarding had caused the majority of the residents of the state.

Aregbesola stated that the unethical practices of fuel marketers had brought untold hardship on the masses, while many were wasting precious time struggling to buy the product.

The governor, who said this in a statement issued by his media aide, Mr. Sola Fasure, asked the police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps to take charge at filling stations where the product was being sold in order to ensure a free flow of traffic.

He charged the law enforcement agencies to make sure that they did not allow fuel queues to block any road, saying this had worsen the traffic situation in parts of the state.

‎Aregbesola said, “It has come to the attention of the State Government of Osun that the peace, joy and serenity of this Yuletide season is somewhat being marred by fuel shortage being experienced all over the country. This is most regrettable.

“The State Government of Osun sympathises with all the people of the state whose movements have been restricted or have had to spend valuable time in queues in filling stations.

“The state government therefore urges fuel marketers in the state to desist from hoarding, profiteering and other sharp and unethical practices that could exacerbate the situation, worsen the plight of residents and detract from our Omoluabi status.

“However, we have received assurances from the Federal Government and not less a person than President Muhammadu Buhari that the situation is being addressed, and that more barges of fuel are being received and distributed at the moment, and that the crisis will soon be over within the shortest possible time.”
